Thursday December 9th 2021 Moving up
I got up planning to take a shower but there was no hot water. I text Kapil and informed him about the lack of hot water. He made arrangements to meet me there at the apartment in a couple of hours. In the mean time I decided to get some breakfast but I had no idea where. I searched for restaurants on Google Maps and was pleasantly surprised to find a McDonald's a short drive north of the apartment. The restaurant was actually a part of a conveniently store that sold gasoline. The breakfast menu was a bit different but the most important item, coffee, was actually just like the coffee in the US.
Back at the apartment I met Kapil and a maintenance tech who informed me that the water heater couldn't be easily repaired. Kapil made some calls and I was moved to another room on the 36th floor. It was a much nicer room and I was much happier with it. The only real issue with the new room was I couldn't get the AC to come on. I once again text Kapil and he told me how to reset the system. Late afternoon I looked on Google Maps and found a florist close by. I drove the short distance there and the two ladies working there made a very nice arrangement that I would give to Annie when I met her at the airport. After getting the flowers I went back to the apartment to get dressed to pick up her up.
Around 10:30 I left for the airport thinking I had plenty of time to get there before Annie's flight which was scheduled to arrive around 1:30am. I did not account for Google Maps directing me on a route over a Floating Bridge. The bridge was closed for the night to allow ships to navigate through the channel. It took a while but I was finally able to get a different route and proceeded on to the airport.
